#FreeMediaVE Caracas UberMayor blames media, says there was no emergency today.

You be the judge. Click on the image above and visit Globovisión’s gallery of images from today’s rains in Caracas, Venezuela.

According to Jackeline Faria, there was no emergency today… it was the media who created a false sense of chaos, she said.

In case you don’t know, Ms. Faria was appointed “Chief of Caracas Government” by Chavez, a post created to sabotage Antonio Ledezma, the legitimate Mayor of Caracas. Since Ledezma, and not the government party’s candidate, won the past election, Chavez created the post and appointed Faria, transferring most of Ledezma’s responsibilities to her.

Funny, since Chavez loves to talk about how “the people” are the ones that govern Venezuela. But when “the people” choose the wrong candidate (i.e., not Chavez’s puppets), well, then Chavez must step in and “fix” things.

All the opposition Governors and Mayors that won the past election have been stripped of most of their responsibilities (specially in areas, such as healthcare, where they could show a better record than the government party), and been persecuted through bogus trials and accusations.

Six years ago, almost to the date, torrential rains in Caracas caused massive havoc… Hundreds of cars where submerged in the pools created by defective drainage. In six years, the Chavez government has been unable to alleviate these issues. They’ll probably blame it on the previous governments (more than 10 years ago), the opposition (all roadways where transferred to the central government), or the media.

This is the same government that publicly stated that there really wasn’t any insecurity in Venezuela, just a “sense” of insecurity created by, you guessed it, the media.

The 48 people that die violently every day in Venezuela disagree.
